Principles of Good Governance during the Pandemic. Registration is now closed

The aim of this session is to refresh school governance during the coronavirus pandemic, drawing on the DfE’s guidance to governors and schools, plus current NGA advice. Governors will have an opportunity to reflect on the current governance practices of their boards and consider alternative approaches to fit with the unique pressures and challenges that schools are facing during the pandemic. Chairs are particularly encouraged to attend with their Headteachers.

Leading in Partnership (for Heads or Deputy/Assistant Heads along with their Chair or Vice Chair)

This course is aimed at the Headteacher and Chair of Governors attending as a pair. The significance of governance at all times, but particularly when a school is inspected, cannot be over stated. Weak governance can result in an RI (or worse) grade for leadership and management. The working relationship between the head/principal and the chair of governors is crucial in facilitating effective governance based on clarity around professional boundaries.
