Ensuring the Sound, Proper and Effective Use of the School’s Financial Resources

This session explores the governors’ strategic role in the effective allocation and management of financial resources including pupil premium and sports funding. We will consider appropriate governance skills, structures and accountability arrangements which will ensure the best use of resources to support pupils’ learning. This course is suitable for recently appointed governors in LA maintained schools and stand-alone academies and those who wish to brush up their knowledge. Not suitable for MAT governors.

Outcomes: Participants will understand the governing body’s strategic role in the effective management of financial resources including the importance of the “challenge” function.
