Leading in Partnership (for Heads or Deputy/Assistant Heads along with their Chair or Vice Chair)
This course is aimed at pairs not individuals
The significance of governance at all times, but particularly when a school is inspected, cannot be over stated. Weak governance could result in an RI or worse grade for leadership and management. (It is no longer a limiting judgement and is determined by individual inspectors)
The working relationship between the head/principal and the chair of governors is crucial in facilitating effective governance. In the context of how Ofsted evaluates governance, this seminar is designed to enable heads/ principals and chairs to:
- Cross reference the core functions of governance to the Competency framework for governors and the current Ofsted framework.
- review the impact of their working relationship on the effectiveness of their governing boards
- explore strategies for building the capacity and defining the impact of their boards
- action plan
It is especially useful for new ‘partnerships’, where a new chair has been elected and/or a new head has taken up their post. If succession planning is a current issue, vice chairs or headteacher designates would also be welcome to attend.
A small amount of preparation is required and information will be emailed to those who enrol before the course.
