SEN Teaching Assistant – Required for September 2018
To assist a child with special needs
Specific Purpose Contract
Monday – Friday 8.45am – 12 noon – Mornings only
Term time only (38 weeks) + up to 5 training days which you will be paid for additionally

Scale 2 points 12 or 13 for 16.25 hours per week
In the first instance this is a one year contract from September 2018 to 31st August 2019

The Governors, staff and pupils of our school seek to appoint a special, fit, active person to provide individual support to an engaging child who has special needs in our Key Stage 1. The successful candidate will work on a one-on-one basis under the direction of the Class Teacher and SENCO.

The successful applicant must:-

  • Have attained the minimum of an NVQ2 CACHE Level 2 or equivalent
  • Enthusiastically embrace the Christian values of our Church of England school
  • Demonstrate complete confidentiality and absolute discretion
  • Be fully cognisant with current Safeguarding Legislation with regard to keeping children safe in education
  • Be motivated, flexible and hardworking
  • Be fit and active
  • Embrace ICT and willingly widen skills in ever-developing technology, ability to use iPad
  • Be caring and passionate about making a difference
  • Demonstrate a commitment to teamwork
  • Have effective communication skills
  • Have a willingness to become involved in professional development and the ability to support children in their learning
  • Have good basic skills in English and Mathematics (to be proved at interview)
  • Proven SEN support, experience is desirable
  • First Aid at Work/Paediatric First Aid Qualification is desirable or a willingness to obtain
  • Attend to the child’s personal hygiene
  • Work with professionals from outside agencies
