The Modern Foreign Languages Faculty at Greig City Academy is made up of a team of dedicated, experienced and qualified linguists, all of whom have a passion for foreign languages, some being native speakers of the language(s) they teach and others who are highly proficient non-native speakers in the language.

We are proud to offer a wide range of languages: Spanish, German, Mandarin and French. In KS3 students are offered the chance to study both Spanish and German, with Spanish being a very popular choice for GCSE. We have one class who study Mandarin in each year group through the Mandarin Excellence Programme, an intensive course supported by the DfE, British Council, IoE and the Chinese Government.

The team are also reflective in their work as teachers and support each other by regularly meeting to discuss methodology and how to get the best for the students. The faculty strive to give all our students a positive language learning experience and encourage the students to be inquisitive about languages and language learning.

All MFL teachers have their own classrooms which are all equipped with Smart screens. We also have access to laptops for student use as well as dictionaries.
