As I write it is the start of Advent, the season of waiting and preparing to celebrate Emmanuel, God with us, at Christmas. I am reminded of the Church of England vision for education, adopted by so many Church schools in London, that to encounter Jesus is to be invited into ‘life in all its fullness’ (John 10:10).

And so I am writing to thank you for the extraordinary lengths that you and your staff have gone to for your pupils and your communities in these extraordinary times: that you have continued to hold out the invitation to ‘life in all its fullness’ despite the current challenges; that you are helping pupils to hold on to the wonder of Advent despite the disruption to the usual Christmas celebrations; and that you are continuing to provide education and pastoral care of the highest quality despite the many distractions.

Thank you also to those who responded to our recent survey. Your responses have been helpful in clarifying a range of issues. We are actively considering how we might develop our support offer in response.

I hope and pray that you and your staff will have a healthy, happy Christmas time, not to mention a good rest!

Kind regards,
